Sim. People often confuse Sim with other terms. Sim is simply a term that describes any fighting that does NOT include dice. Sim is short for Simulation, which basically means you are simulating the fight, not using dice and equations.

Sim fights can be broken down into a couple general categories. These Categories are: Storybook RP, Descriptive RP, Word Count RP and finally, short hand. Within these categories, there are the two styles; Turn Based, and Speed.

Storybook RP is usually done using inverse RP style. So in other words, instead of doing actions like this-
::Looks at the guy::
You just do actions with no marks. But instead of talking with no marks, you use quotations like this-
"Good day sir, how are you?" He says as he bows to him.
That isn't the main difference though. In Storybook RP, the characters and muns are usually a part of a storyline group. So there are a lot of Game characters like Link and Zelda, and the RPers are acting out their rendition and creative views on the characters within their own story. Storybook RP is used in junction with Turn Based Role Playing.

Descriptive RP, and the others, are generally original characters. Descriptive RP means you base your skills on how well you view the intracate delicacies of life. Fighting, for example; instead of hitting someone a million times and backing up and jumping around, you describe a single attack so well that the other person can't just "move the left," they would have to put some strategy into what they are doing. So Descriptive RP is more stratgegic. During fights, Descriptive RP is used with Turn Based style RP. Out of fights, Descriptive RP has no turn style.

Word count RP is exactly what it sounds like, word count. Your attacks must be within the standards of a set amount of words for your attack. If someone were to attack you, you would have to type a defensive or dodging maneuver that was at least double that of the attack. And lastly, if someone were to try and pull a death move, they would have to type approximately 10 times the number of minimum words of a normal attack. And in that case, a defense would have to be double what the death attack was... Bleh. Word Count RP is generally used with Speed style RPing.

Short hand RP is for goofing off and having fun when RPing. People come in a room and just act out a quick scene in a bar or something. They are sorta tired or worn out, it's basically renegade. In fighting, short hand is basically speed style, and is commonly referred to as "DBZ style fighting" Some actions are as little as one word, and an average LONG attack is basically less than ten words. Can you think on your feet? GO!

Turn based style means the people that are fighting or RPing take turns. And when it is not your turn, you read what everyone else is saying, and during your turn, you post. Turn based is for the use of Strategic fighting and planning. Most of the time, the turns go by alphabetical order. Sometimes, after a bunch of people have joined and left over an extended period, the order gets un-organized, but still goes in order.

Speed style RP is a test of how quickly you type, read and respond. Speed typing is for the use of quick understanding and imeediate decisions. You don't have time to stragegize what your next move will be, you just have to act and react to the situation.
