01. WORD COUNT
|
word count teaches you the basics of RP Combat, half of all RPers start here... The most simple attacks, best used for Speed combat, come from DBZ Role Players. Examples of actions are... ::Fades (Direction):: ::Charges Ki:: ::Jumps into air:: ::Hovers:: ::Powers up:: ::Appears (location):: ::Punches (person) (where punched):: ::Kicks (Person) (where kicked)::
Thank you to Virote Mazus for allowing me to post an example of a speed Word Count between me and him - click here for the example of a Word Count battle.

02. DICE |
This meathod is used most widely throughout RP. It's main realm and mother of rules is Rhy'Din.
Dice usage always begins at 2d20. A person can then specify weather they are mortal, half mortal, or immortal. Half mortal will make their dice 3d20, and immortal (Usually Vampire) Makes their dice 4d20.
The first number, the 2 3 or 4, represents how many d(Dice) They will roll. The second number, starting with 20, is how many sides each dice has to it.
When a people fight using dice, they must always have a person Proctoring, Or watching what is happening, and logging it. Each dice' rolled value is calculated to see how many HP (hit Points) the number is worth.
All rules are very strict when you are a dice RPer, except when you spar or MS. These are only practice and to help a person gain XP. A lot of people play around and enjoy their time Sparing.
Thank you to Nal-mun for allowing me to post an example of a DICE MS

03. DESCRIPTIVE |
In my personal opinion, Descriptive Role Playing, also known as Storybook RP, is the most elite style of Role Playing. I say that, because the most true Role Players use Descriptive style for their RP, and some other style for their fighting. But during an actual storyline, Descriptive type is like reading a book, and takes the most Imagination.
As far as Combat goes, Descriptive RP usually goes until someone gives up, or has to go eat dinner, or run errands. The winner is usually appointed as the person who was Most Descriptive. Usually, a single action consists of 300+ words or so. This isn't a rules page, so if you want the rules, go there. But in a basic sense, this is an example of one action...:
::His boots were sinking into the ground by an inch, it seemed he was becoming heavier and heavier as energy filled his body. His muscles were all very tense, seemingly more dense than a hylean body should be. The clear diamond clenched in his left fist was glowing a wild blend of red and violet, calling new strength toward Sua from every surrounding life source. Most of his face begins to turn red as if he is holding on to some sort of magickal pressure. The only part of his face that wasn't so tense were his eyes. Those dark brown eyes were now backlit with a magickal violet color, blazing brilliantly, but holding calm concentration in contrast to his other features. Under his breath and in his mind he repeats a spell a second time very quickly, drawing a decreasing amount of energy to himself because nature was growing bleak. The winds around him blow strands of his auburn hair in front of his eyes. His mages robe is a circus of shreds, pieces torn apart and hanging loosely all over. Large holes show through to his tan skin, which now has a slight red glow to it. In this period of three seconds, a few acorns and various fruits have dropped from the trees, having ripened and lost their energy to hold on. Sua had absorbed half of the energy from every natural life source within a 10-mile radius. As he stands and throws his tattered robe to the side, his cut muscles didn't seem to have enlarged any, but they are very much so more dense. A now jet black diamond drops from his hand, all energy having been depleted. Fair-conditioned knee length shorts, and a slighly torn, navy blue, short sleeved tunic are his adornments now. His right hand is encaging his sword of courage's handle, ready for the absolute destruction of his opponent. Having taken these three seconds to charge his energy might have been a bad idea since his opponent was already poised to attack, but now Sua might be able to take just about anything from this battle. The outcome has thus been decided in Sua's mind. The Iron Kuckle was going to forfiet his life tonight.::
This example is 365 words, and is an average action. The action taken is that I had charged some energy. That is the only thing that would effect the battle. The wind blowing and the lack of a robe wouldn't effect the battle. The biggest thing with Descriptive Fighting, is that a lot of people do more than one action. Just make sure you only do ONE action that would effect the battle.

04. SIM based |
SIM (Simulation) Based fighting is "Not not" a form of fighting. But it "Is is" a form of fighting. LoL! Sim is what fighting is before any classification. It basically means you follow the basic rules of Role Playing, but you don't use dice, you don't have to be way descriptive, and there isn't a word count. Sim is simply, you know the rules, and you fight. Most of the time, it is used for small fights, like little brawls in the Tavern or something. Or pushing somebody around. That is Sim in a Nutshell. It's basically just getting roudy, no rules except for the basics.

05. TURN BASED |
Turn based fighting isn't really a classification of a fighting style, but within a fighting style. You could have a specific Word Count, but say it is turn based, so the people basically do their action, and move on to the next person in a consentric order. Most Descriptive fights are turn based, but not 100% of them. And 99.9% of dice fights are Turn Based. There are some forms of Word Count where you actually use a 1d20 dice and fight and roll, fight and roll. It's the most ancient of fighting, and the least organized. Most "Turn Based" goes in Alphabetical order by Screen name in the room.

06. SPEED SPAR |
Speed type of RPing basically means that the opponents just fight it out, relying on how quick they type and think. If you hit someone, and do another action before they "reply" to that hit, or dodge it, or counter it.. Then your hit was successful. It basically is just the opposite of Turn Based.. There are no turns. Most Word Count battles use Speed-style. Some Descriptive battles do, but not often. And .1% of dice battles do. So you see? Opposite of Turn Based.
